Over the past year Al collected a few photos of his work, or is
it play? You can click on the photo for a slightly larger
image or click on the download icon on the right for the full size
image. We hope you enjoy these as much as Al enjoyed creating them.

Al was trying to put together a few pictures of simple
twisted animals for this web-site. He never got past the
first couple of them. Al can do dozzens of different
animals, but he never got around to photographing them all.
Anyway, here is a Giraffe! |
 |
 |
Here's a nice camel |
 |
 |
This is either a dog or a squirrel? Really this is
the basic four-legged figure. With minor teaks it
might be a fox or a horse with various sizes of neck, tail,
body and legs. So much of balloon art is in the eyes of the
beholder. This is the kind of figure where Al might ask the
child "What is this?" and as soon as they gave an
answer He'd say "Exactly Right!". |

 |
The Love Monkey! This was the first of Love Monkey
that Al ever made back in Feb 07. The customer wanted several twisted
monkeys instead of Al's standard V-Day teddy bears. After
twisting it up Al added the tulip and a new Al's Balloons
Valentine classic was born. |
 |
 |
This was a bouquet that Al put together for a friend of
the family. Al's Friend's wife had been traveling and
while she was out Al's friend and the kids had replaced
their backyard bird feeder. Al's friend wanted a bouquet to
brighten the house for her return. The bird feeder suggested
a theme and after thinking a bit this was
the bouquet that Al created. It has two foil
stars and three perlized latex balloons in matching colors.
There are two hummingbirds flying halfway down the bouquet.
The cost on this bouquet would be about $22 |

 |
Here is a more detailed look at the custom weight.
It is made from a half-pint mason jar filled with birdseed. |

The birdseed weight above gave me several more good
ideas. Here is a bouquet weight filled with M&M's |
 |
 |
Next is one of Al's personal favorites, a bouquet weight filled
with JellyBelly's |
 |
 |
This is a Bouquet that Al put together for another friend who
was recovering from a minor auto accident. It had the
get-well soon balloon as well as some foil shapes.
Those were accompanied by diamond clear and sapphire blue
jewel toned latex balloons. Suspended halfway down the
bouquet is a pair of twisted monkeys. The weight is a
half-pint mason jar filled with M&M's. The bouquet was
a big hit! |

Here is Al with his daughter who helped pick the colors
and foil balloons. She was very proud of her work and
wanted to pose for the picture. |
 |
 |
This is Al's first helium arch. He did it as part of
the decoration for a dinner party at Al's home. The arch
is 10' long. He did it out of 5" latex balloons and it hung
at the top of the stairs in Al's split-level home. 5"
balloons aren't recommended for arches, the float time is
just too short with balloons that are that small. The
float time on this arch was only about 5-6 hours. Al finished it about an hour before our party started and it
was falling by the time the guests went home. |
 |
 |
Al's kids were terribly excited to watch the arch go
together and the couldn't resist posing with Al for the
picture! |
 |
 |
Along with the arch, Al added some foil palm trees and
hung them in the party entrance. It set just the right
tone as his guests arrived. |
 |
 |
Encouraged by the arch above, Next Al tried a string-of-pearls
arch out of 11" helium balloons treated with Ultra Hi-Float.
This arch looked great for more than three weeks when
Al
finally took it down. |

 |
For Mother's Day 2007 Al put together this "Daisy and
Mouse" balloon sculpture. Everyone who saw it thought
that it was adorable. The base at the bottom
hides a ceramic tile inside a latex balloon. That also
makes this perfect to use a a weight for a balloon bouquet. |
 |
 |
In thinking about what kind of bouquet would go nicely
with the daisy and mouse above Al settled on this large
flower arrangement. He treated these with Ultra
Hi-Float and again, they lasted for weeks. |
 |
 |
Here is the whole display put together. The daisy and
mouse acted as a weight for the Spring Daisy bouquet above
along with Al and his daughter. |
 |
 |
Al's oldest son just had to get in on the act too!
Al suspects
that these would also make a good valentines bouquet if they
were done in different colors |
 |
 |
Here is Al, all setup to do balloon twisting at a Halloween
event. This night, Al twisted balloons for a few hundred kids.
Since Al was going to be in a Gym he knew he had room for
some balloon decor with scale. Al put together an 8 foot
column out of 5" air-filled latex and kept it floating with
11" latex balloons on top. By using air in the column and
treating the latex with Ultra Hi-Float the column actually
stayed quite nice for a few weeks after the event. |
 |
 |
Al finds that it helps the kids choose an balloon figure more
quickly if He puts out a few samples out on the table. Here is
a tiger and a monkey in Halloween colors. |
 |
 |
Taped to the edge of the table, this balloon bee was a
popular choice among the party goers that nigt. |
